Gliffy/Mind Map

Assignment:  Gliffy

Uses in the Classroom:  The objective of this lesson is for each student to create a mind map of a person who made significant contributions to the culture of the United States using Gliffy.    The only use I would have for this particular lesson would be in the development of a new course.  The ability to create a mind map would come into play during brainstorming and deciding how to lay out the course.  There would be no use for this in my current course.

Issues to Consider:  School districts/institutions or teachers/instructors will have to ensure Gliffy is available to access on their institutions local area network (Gliffy is not able to be accessed on the USAF LAN).  Gliffy is very sensitive, but fairly easy to use.  Students will still need ample time to get familiar with the Gliffy.  Students will find Gliffy much easier to use if they have a large monitor (27 inch or bigger).  Students should be aware of copyrighted material and provide appropriate acknowledgment where required.
